These people set us apart from most: they are local leaders who serve on our Board of Directors and help guide our principles and keep us in touch with the needs of the community. To them we are all very grateful.

Judy Carey
Judy Carey has a long history of commitment to the Manitowoc Community. She is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker TREG, Inc., a position she has held for the past fifteen years. Judy has lived in Manitowoc since 1977. For the past twenty-seven years, she has served the community as a member of the Manitowoc School Board and is on the finance committee of the First Presbyterian Church of Manitowoc.
Sandra L. Hardrath

Sandra Hardrath’s background in the insurance industry adds valuable expertise to the board. Ms. Hardrath is a Senior Account Executive at Ansay & Associates where she is a Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Professional Insurance Agent. She is a member of Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, the Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, Progress Lakeshore, and the Manitowoc Home Builders Association.

Stanley A. Johnson

President of A.C.E. Building Services, Inc., Stanley Johnson was born in Rockford, Illinois, and has lived in rural Manitowoc County since 1994. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Donald J. Karman

Don Karman has lived in Two Rivers his entire life and retired as Director of Sales for Paragon Electric Company.  Since retiring, he has been a sales and marketing consultant and actively engaged in the community.  He is a Trustee on the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish Council, serves on the City of Two Rivers Economic Development Committee, and the Roncalli High School Endowment Committee and has served on the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association board.  Don has been a committed board member in the past, and is returning for a second term of service.

Marilyn Kaufmann, Ph.D.

The chair of the Nursing Program at Lakeshore Technical College, Marilyn Kaufmann holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UW-Eau Claire, a Masters in Public Health from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Nursing from UW-Milwaukee. Recently she served on the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. Currently she serves on the committees for Holy Family Home Care and Hospice and Process Improvement. She is a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association.

David Less

David Less brings Shady Lane his extensive background in planning, business financing, and development. For twenty-seven years he was Manitowoc’s City Planner. He is a Certified Economic Development Professions through the National Development Council. He holds a B.A. from the Northern Illinois University in De Kalb and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. In 2014, the EDC of Manitowoc County selected him as Economic Accelerator of the Year.

Scott McMeans

With over twenty years of healthcare experience and as a former Administrative Director of Strategic Implementation, Scott brings a depth of understanding of healthcare and its future trends. Besides serving on Shady Lane’s board, he is a Manitowoc City Council Alderman, co-chairs the Chamber Legislative Committee and sits on the Wisconsin Hospital Association Public Policy Committee.

Joseph Metzen

The Associate Executive Director of the Two Rivers – Manitowoc YMCA, Joseph L. Metzen oversees fund raising, youth programs and the YMCA’s two childcare centers. He holds a degree in Fine Art and a BFA in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). No stranger to leadership, he has served on the boards of Two Rivers Business Association, the Spirit of the Rivers, the Manitowoc School Board District Foundation, Art Splash Main Street, and the Lakeshore Planned Giving Collaboration.

Matthew Neu

Matthew Neu is an accountant and senior manager with Hawkins, Ash CPA’s. He holds a BBA in accounting and marketing from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. A Manitowoc resident for the past eighteen years, Mr. Neu also serves on the boards of the YMCA, the Manitowoc County Historical Society, and Newton Youth Sports.

Monica Nichter

Monica Nichter is the Director of Revenue Integrity and Payor Contracting for Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc. She has worked with Network Health Plan, Affinity Health Services, and other organizations related to insurance and practice management. An alumna of the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Mike Schaus

Mike Schaus is retired. He is the former President and Partner in Schaus Roofing and Mechanical in Manitowoc. He serves on the Long Range and Facilities Planning Committee. Mike is a graduate of Lakeshore Technical College and a lifelong resident of Manitowoc.

Jeremy Sehloff

Jeremy Sehloff, a financial representative for Thrivent Financial, is a trustee of the Manitowoc Calumet County Library System, a member of Sail, the Noon Rotary, and the Two Rivers Business Association. A thirty-year resident of Manitowoc County, he holds an associate degree from the University of Wisconsin Manitowoc Center and a business management degree with a mathematics minor from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

Dennis Tienor

The business banking manager of Bank First National, Dennis Tienor is a graduate of UW-Manitowoc, UW-Whitewater in Finance, and the completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He is a member of the City of Manitowoc’s Community Development Authority, a member of the YMCA’s Endowment Committee and the United Way.

Tim Burkard

Tim has resided in Manitowoc County since 1992. He is an Attorney and Partner at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP in the firm’s Manitowoc office. He has provided leadership to several organizations, including The Chamber of Manitowoc County, Progress Lakeshore, Holiday House, The Capitol Civic Centre, U.W.Manitowoc Foundation, Manitowoc Public Library Foundation, and the Hospice Advisory Committee at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Timothy’s educational background includes a law degree and M.B.A. from Marquette University And B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

Mary Govier

Mary has lived in Manitowoc County since 1980. She is a retired physician who worked at the Manitowoc Clinic for 15 years and then as a hospitalist for Holy Family Memorial network for 21 years. She has served several organizations including multiple committees at Holy Family Memorial, Endowment Committee of Roncalli High School and volunteer at Notre Dame School of Milwaukee. In addition to once again becoming a board member of Shady lane, Mary is currently serving on the board of Silver Lake College. Mary’s educational background includes an undergraduate from Grinnell College in Iowa, Masters Degree in Education from Stanford University and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri.
